KAIKŌURA WILDLIFE
Kaikōura is a biodiversity hotspot known for its marine life, being a global marine mammal and seabird capital. While Kaikōura is renowned for its cetaceans and pinnipeds, the region is equally important for seabirds. This community presentation will cover the unique wildlife relying on Kaikōura's marine ecosystem, the threats species face, and how we can drive positive collective change. This will lead into the Kaikōura Wildlife Centre Trust’s vision to implement a wildlife hospital centre, to enable the rescue and treatment of injured and ill wildlife - facilitating a critical community service focused on animal welfare and conservation.
